Washtenaw County Government Extends Partial Closure and modified remote operations of County Operations to Comply with Governor’s Executive Order 2020-42

County Administrator making plans to reestablish operations on Friday, May 1

ANN ARBOR, MI- In a special message to county staff, Washtenaw County Administrator Gregory Dill announced the continued partial closure of county operations, limiting in-person services to critical infrastructure and those required for minimum basic operations.  He now plans to reestablish regular operations on Friday, May 1. 

“We continue to rely on the expertise of our health experts, and the leadership of our local, state and federal lawmakers,’ states Dill, ‘we trust their recommendations are in the best interest of the safety and health of the general public.  Therefore, after consulting with our Board of Commissioners, countywide elected officials and chief judge, I’ve made the difficult decision to extend the closure of all non-essential Washtenaw County services.  The revised plan is to reopen on Friday, May 1, 2020.  I can assure you, this organization is working to provide as many services possible utilizing technology in order to abide by social distancing guidelines.”    

Chair of the Board of Commissioners Jason Morgan adds, “During this public health crisis, county government is more important than ever to ensuring the health of our community. It is important to make clear that Washtenaw County government is still open and operating remotely to serve the public. We are incredibly appreciative to our front-line staff, public safety, public health and other human services and operations staff who are continuing to work in-person as needed, with appropriate social distancing and safety protections employed. We continue to navigate unprecedented times and it is critical that we keep our employees safe while continuing to provide critically-needed county services to residents.”
