Important, Time Sensitive Freedom Compressor Station Update

Dear Freedom Township Neighbor:

The in-person open house scheduled at our Freedom Compressor Station tomorrow morning, Sat.,Oct. 17 has been cancelled. Instead, we will host a virtual meeting using the Zoom meeting platform. In addition, there will be an option to join via phone if you are unable to join on your computer. The virtual event will still take place from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 17^th.  Below please find a zoom link and a phone number for the virtual Open House.

The safety of our neighbors, elected officials and employees is our top priority. After considerable deliberation and consultation we made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person meeting. We consulted with Washtenaw County Emergency Manager Dave Halteman, who shared that within a 24-hour period (as of Oct. 15) 79 confirmed COVID cases were reported. Mutual concern was expressed about hosting an in-person meeting of more than 75 people. This, along with State of Michigan statistics that show a definite uptick in the number of positive COVID cases, led us to change to a virtual meeting format.

We recognize this is not an ideal situation, but hope you understand and agree this is the best way to help ensure everyone’s safety. Our Consumers Energy team is prepared to share information about the Freedom Compressor Station and additional information will be sent to your home after the meeting. We hope to be able to reschedule an Open House and a tour of the station in spring, 2021.
