NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

VARIANCES REQUESTED FROM THE EXTRACTION ORDINANCE NO. 32-B

Notice is hereby given that the Township Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. in the Freedom Township Hall (11508 Pleasant Lake Road) to invite public comment on a request by Stoneco of Michigan for the following variances from Section 16.1 (Setback) of Extraction Ordinance No. 32-B for the extraction operations located on parcels #N-14-26-300-001, -300-007, -300-008, -300-014, and -400-004 on the north side of Bethel Church Road east of Schneider Road in the SW¼ of Section 26:

  1. A variance from the Section 16.1 prohibition of excavation, washing, stockpiling of extracted material or other extraction activity of any sort within 500 feet of any existing residence to allow a 256.0-foot setback from the dwelling at 9986 Bethel Church Rd. (owner: Jim Burmeister). 

  2. A variance from the Section 16.1 prohibition of excavation, washing, stockpiling of extracted material or other extraction activity of any sort within 500 feet of any existing residence and 200 feet from any other lot boundary to allow a 350.0-foot setback from the dwelling and a 50.0-foot setback from the south lot boundary at 6653 Schneider Rd. (owner: Kevin & Stacey Gingras). 


The extraction permit application materials and plans may be examined by appointment with the Township Clerk at (734) 428-7545 ext.2.  A copy of Ordinance No. 32-B is available on the Township’s website at http://www.freedomtownshipmi.org/.
